Three easy steps to opening an online DirectBond account

Start investing in corporate bonds and other fixed income securities with our online account opening service


Whether you’re an SMSF, individual investor, company or trust, clients can now apply for a DirectBond account through our online service.

The benefits of opening an online account include:

  • A more streamlined, user friendly experience than completing the paper form.
  • The process is secure and there are prompts to help you complete it accurately
  • There is an option to upload supporting documents such as wholesale certificates, trust deeds and certified identification if required
  • A convenient service available at any time
  • The option to return to an unfinished application for up to 30 days, using a ‘resume’ link emailed to you

The application process may require at least one piece of certified ID (licence, passport or Medicare card) in the event we are unable to check your identity through electronic means.

How to complete the application

There are three simple steps to opening an online DirectBond account with us. Please visit the application pageExternal link - opens in a new window to start.

1.   Follow the prompts to provide your contact and investor details in the online application as shown in Figure 1.

Next, choose what kind of investor you are and tick the field labelled “I have read FIIG’s Financial Services Guide”.External link - opens in a new window

When you save and proceed as shown in Figure 2, you can choose to continue the application and fill out additional pages or we’ll email you a link, which you can use to return and complete your application for up to 30 days.

2.   When complete, print the form, sign and upload it back on the website with any supporting documents, if needed such as wholesale certificate, trust deed, and certified ID.  

3.   Once your application is submitted and your DirectBond account has been finalised, we will send you a login set up via email. You will then be able to explore, choose bond investments and submit trade requests in MyFIIG, your online portal.

Note: In accordance with AML/CTF laws, we are required to verify the identity of all individuals listed in the application. We will endeavour to electronically verify your identity using the information provided in the application however where this is not possible, we may request certified copies of your identification documents, such as a passport or driver’s license.
