BHP Billiton (‘BHP’) is among the world’s largest producers of major commodities, including iron ore, metallurgical coal, copper and uranium, and has substantial interests in conventional and unconventional oil and gas and energy coal. It is a dual listed company comprising BHP Billiton Limited and BHP Billiton Plc. BHP Billiton was created through the merger of BHP Limited (now BHP Billiton Limited) and Billiton Plc (now BHP Billiton Plc), which was concluded on 29 June 2001. BHP Billiton Limited has a primary listing on the Australian Securities Exchange and BHP Billiton Plc has a premium listing on the London Stock Exchange, with a secondary listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. BHP had a market capitalisation of approximately A$130bn as at the time of writing this report.
